Markaz vs Temu vs Shein in Pakistan: Pricing, Delivery, and Trust Compared (2026)

On August 22, 2025, the Competition Commission of Pakistan formally asked PTA to ban Temu. The complaint, filed by the Pakistan Retail Business Council and the Chain Store Association, cited "predatory pricing." Shein was named alongside in the same review.
Neither platform has been banned as of mid-2026. But the question shoppers and resellers are asking changed overnight: if Temu and Shein are this regulatorily exposed, what's the actual alternative? This guide is that comparison — pricing, delivery, returns, trust — side by side, with real numbers.
The short answer is that Temu, Shein, and Markaz aren't trying to do the same thing. Temu is a Chinese-localized cross-border discount engine. Shein is a global fast-fashion catalog. Markaz is a Pakistani marketplace with both Pakistani-supplier and direct-from-China inventory, COD-native and tax-inclusive. Once you understand which kind of buyer you are, the right platform usually picks itself.

Temu in Pakistan: what it actually is
Temu launched a fully localized Pakistan funnel in 2025 at temu.com/pk-en, with an iOS and Android app. Per ProPakistani's product review, it became one of the top-downloaded shopping apps in Pakistan within months of launch.
Stated delivery is 4–11 working days, with user reports stretching to 12–14 working days. There's a small auto-credit of PKR 280 for late delivery — useful as a goodwill gesture, not as a real recourse. Payment methods include credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and the two local wallets PKR shoppers actually use: JazzCash and EasyPaisa.
Returns are surprisingly generous on paper: a 90-day return window, first return per order free, and PKR 612 deducted from subsequent return refunds. That said, the return process itself requires shipping back to a Chinese address through Temu's chosen courier — not a Pakistani drop-off — which adds friction most buyers don't anticipate.
The big story on Temu in 2025 was the price increase. After the FBR de minimis cut and the introduction of 18% sales tax on foreign-platform parcels, Temu listings in Pakistan jumped 200–300%. A PKR 200 fashion item became PKR 600. The platform's signature value proposition — extreme low prices — was eroded by Pakistani tax policy.
Shein in Pakistan: the platform that never localized
Unlike Temu, Shein never built a localized Pakistan funnel. There's no shein.com.pk. Pakistani shoppers reach the global shein.com directly (with geo-restrictions reported in community threads), or buy through third-party reshippers and resellers like Negative Apparel and others on Instagram.
Delivery to Pakistan, when it works, runs 10–20 days standard and 7–14 days on the Express tier, per SellTheTrend's shipping guide. There is no confirmed integration with JazzCash or EasyPaisa on shein.com for Pakistani shoppers. References to COD for Shein in Pakistan appear only on third-party reseller pages, not on Shein's official PK flow.
Returns: Shein's global 35-day window doesn't apply to Pakistan as a directly-supported return market. In practice, returning a Shein item from Pakistan is a logistically painful exercise that most buyers simply don't attempt — the refund value rarely justifies the courier cost back to China.
Shein listings tend to be priced for global markets in USD or EUR. A real PKR listing example: the SHEIN Solid Ruched Cami Dress at PKR 9,600 on a Pakistani reseller's site. Shein's strength is the depth and constant turnover of its fashion catalog, not its Pakistan experience.
Markaz: the Pakistani-localized alternative
Markaz is a Pakistani marketplace built from day one around the COD-driven, mobile-first, JazzCash-paid reality of how Pakistanis actually shop. The platform has two parallel inventory pools — Pakistani suppliers (PK-side, fast delivery, COD) and direct-from-China sourcing — and exposes both through one PKR-priced storefront.
The headline numbers for a buyer:
- 40–50% lower prices than cross-border equivalents. Because Markaz aggregates demand and handles taxes at the platform layer, the listed PKR price is consistently 40–50% lower than the same product would land at on Temu after the 18% sales tax and WHT.
- 3–5 day delivery for Pakistan-side inventory. Faster than Temu's stated 4–11 and significantly faster than Shein's 10–20.
- 15-day end-to-end for China-direct orders. Slower than PK-side, but the price-quality advantage usually justifies the wait — and it's still competitive with Temu's actual (vs stated) delivery for many SKUs.
- COD throughout Pakistan. For PK-side orders, COD is native. For China-direct orders, Markaz uses a 30% Bayana upfront structure — pay 30% to commit, receive the item, the balance settles on delivery. This mirrors traditional Pakistani wholesale credit dynamics and is dramatically more accessible than Temu's full-prepay model.
- All-inclusive pricing. No 18% tax surprise at the door. The PKR sticker price you see is the price you pay. This single feature has become Markaz's biggest structural advantage since the July 2025 tax changes.
- 7-day return window with free return shipping. Markaz pays the return cost. No claim form sent to China; no language barrier. Local customer service handles it.
- Lost-parcel refund. If a product is lost in delivery, Markaz refunds — no overseas claim process, no months-long wait for Cainiao to investigate.
Pricing in practice: what 5,000 rupees buys you
Let's compare what PKR 5,000 — a realistic "first basket" amount — actually buys on each platform in mid-2026.
On Temu (post-2025 prices): roughly 8–10 small-ticket items (basic fashion accessories, beauty items, phone cases). Pre-tax sticker would suggest 12–15 items, but Pakistan's tax stack eats the difference. Delivery: 4–14 working days.
On Shein (via global site): 1–3 fashion items — Shein price points run higher per unit. Delivery: 10–20 days. No COD.
On Markaz: 12–18 items at the same quality tier, because the all-inclusive pricing is 40–50% lower than post-tax cross-border. Delivery: 3–5 days for PK-side inventory. COD available.
For the same PKR 5,000, a Pakistani shopper gets meaningfully more on Markaz than on either cross-border platform. The math is no longer subtle.
Delivery: stated time versus lived time
There's a recurring gap in cross-border between stated and lived delivery times. Temu states 4–11 days; user reports in PK forums consistently extend to 12–14. Shein's "express" 7–14 day option assumes optimal routing through their warehouses, which doesn't always happen for PK addresses.
Markaz operates on Pakistani logistics infrastructure — TCS, Leopards, M&P, and the courier network most Pakistani buyers already trust. The 3–5 day SLA reflects this. For China-direct orders, the 15-day end-to-end window covers ocean or land transit, customs clearance with all duties pre-paid by Markaz, and final delivery — bundled into one workflow with no door-knock fee surprises.
Trust: the post-2025 reality
Both Temu and Shein are under active CCP/PTA review as of mid-2026. The regulatory overhang is real. A reseller building on either platform is exposed to a single regulatory decision — if PTA blocks access, the supply chain breaks overnight. AliExpress already showed this can happen: in July 2025, AliExpress sellers globally restricted Pakistan addresses, ending years of resellers' AliExpress dropshipping overnight.
Markaz is a Pakistani company subject to Pakistani regulation. FBR-compliant, SBP-compliant, taxed locally. The platform isn't a regulatory exposure for resellers building on it.
There's a second trust dimension: refunds and dispute resolution. On Temu and Shein, refund disputes are resolved through global customer-service templates and in-app dispute flows that often loop in confusing ways. On Markaz, customer service is Pakistani, in English or Urdu, with no questions asked on returns within the 7-day window.
When each platform is the right choice
This isn't a "Markaz is best for everything" article. The honest verdict:
Choose Temu when: You're hunting for the absolute lowest sticker price on niche items not yet on Pakistani platforms; you're comfortable with the 18% tax + WHT shock at the door; you can wait 4–14 days; you don't need COD.
Choose Shein when: You want depth and turnover in trend-driven fast fashion specifically; you have access to a forwarder or reshipper relationship; you don't care about COD or returns.
Choose Markaz when: You want the lowest landed cost in Pakistan (which is now consistently Markaz post-2025); you need COD; you want 3–5 day Pakistani delivery for the items you can buy locally; you want all-inclusive pricing with no door-knock surprise; or you want to resell to your own customers and need a platform that supports the reseller workflow with PK payouts and PK-side returns.
For most Pakistani shoppers and nearly every Pakistani reseller building a sustainable margin, Markaz is the platform that compounds the longest in 2026 — because it's the one whose unit economics work in the new tax environment.
What to do next
If you're a shopper deciding where to buy your next PKR 2,000–10,000 order: browse Markaz Pakistan and compare any product to its Temu or Shein equivalent. The price gap is usually clear within five minutes.
If you're a reseller building a business: don't build on a platform that's under active ban review. Become a Markaz reseller and set your own margin on a catalog that's tax-inclusive, COD-supported, and refundable.
If you're a Pakistani brand considering listing distribution: Markaz's reseller network gives any product instant access to thousands of Pakistani social-commerce sellers who already have customer bases. That's a distribution moat Temu and Shein structurally can't replicate.
The 2025 tax changes made cross-border Pakistan ecommerce harder. They also made Pakistan-localized platforms structurally more competitive. Markaz is one of those platforms — and the math now backs it up at the unit level.
